I would love to say I was born a morning person, but I’m not sure that is true.  I like my sleep just like anyone and don’t perform well when I don’t get enough.  But most people know me as “that friend that gets up at the crack of dawn.”

I think being a mother pushed me to like mornings.  When your husband is a night owl the only true time you can find peace of mind and quiet is in the early morning hours you make it work.  Now I haven’t found a way to get away from my fur-babies in the morning, but on most days they work with me after that first trip outside.

How my mornings look now:

My mornings go a little something like this (although as a disclaimer I will say, I am not perfect so this isn’t every day), I typically get up at 4:45 am and I get my daughter up for school around 7:45 am – so I have 3 hours.

  • Get up and try not to trip over whatever my daughter has left in the floor on my way to my bathroom.
  • Let dog #1 out because she always goes down the steps with me, she follows me EVERYWHERE!
  • Put on a cup of tea in the Keurig and start my morning with some coconut oil.
  • Read a quick devotion or personal development.
  • Workout
  • Catch up on emails, social media, and messages
  • Any projects I need to really concentrate on with no distractions I try to knock out first thing in the morning.
  • My goal is to always get a few daily client jobs completed before I get my daughter up.
  • I sometimes will start a load of laundry, load dishwasher or clean up from last nights dinner.
  • Make my daughter’s lunch, sign her agenda then get her up and we start our true day together before she goes to school.

I have moments of weakness, if my mornings weren’t so pleasant I wouldn’t do it.  But I hate getting up late, having to rush to get stuff done and out the door.  There’s nothing worse to set my day in motion than being stressed out.  I can not stress enough, however, use some time in your morning to work on YOU. Work out and read something that makes you better than you were yesterday.  You will be more successful if you start your day that way.

How I learned to have productive mornings:

My mornings didn’t use to be so effective, I did find a course that helped me train myself to have a better morning.  I’m a huge fan of Money Saving Mom, I have probably followed her since I had internet? haha So I love reading her blog and anything else she offers, so when I saw Makeover Your Mornings, I knew it was something I needed to be more effective in my morning routine.  It was simple 14-day course, or you could do the entire thing on a weekend, but it’s easier to digest if you do each day and follow her plan.

If you aren’t a morning person, but really want to be, I suggest you try this out.

It’s a great course, easy to follow and I think you’ll enjoy it.  I can’t wait to hear how you Make Over Your Mornings.
